YouTube thumbnail size editor online — 1280×720 in your browser

By Liton Islam · Updated Sep 11, 2026

Thumbnails decide clicks. YouTube’s recommended size is 1280×720 (16:9), under 2MB, as JPG, GIF, or PNG. With Photoemu you can build that thumbnail online: crop, add bold text, polish color, and export — no Canva account required if you already have a photo or frame grab.

Fast thumbnail workflow

1. Open Photoemu
2. Import a high-quality still or design base
3. Crop to 16:9
4. Add short text (3–5 words max)
5. Resize toward 1280×720 if needed
6. Export JPG (photos) or PNG (hard graphics)

Thumbnail rules that improve CTR

• One clear face or product — not a busy collage
• High contrast text that stays readable on mobile
• Avoid tiny words; phones shrink everything
• Match the promise of the video title (no bait-and-switch)
